The GRE is a Must for Army Captains: Start Studying

Army captains to take GRE to assess talent August 13, 2019

Army Pic of CPT According to the Army Talent Management Task Force, Army officers enrolled in the Captains Career Course must take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) during the course beginning this summer. A large-scale rollout of the GRE is a first step in the Army's move to establish a culture of objective assessment and employ the individual talents of its officers.

The GRE is a standardized test administered by computer which measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills. The exam is also an admissions requirement for some graduate schools within the United States. Officers pursuing a graduate degree through the Army's Advanced Civil Schooling (ACS) Program must include GRE scores in their nomination packets. The Army plans to use these results to assess an officer's potential for Army competitive education programs.

The move towards objective assessment means Army officers don't want to walk into this unprepared. Afterall, the better your score, the greater your opportunities for education.

If you're an Army officer who will soon start your Captain's Career Course, do yourself a favor and start preparing for the GRE now! Believe me--you will have plenty of other things to keep you busy once your start.

Wondering what to study? No worries. We've already compiled some resources to help you feel more confident on test day.
